Sweetgrass Cannabis is an independent, locally owned micro-cultivator and processor of certified organic cannabis based in the renowned Kootenay region of BC. Our interest in the art of growing high-end flower runs deep and we’ve been hard at work to deliver our products to the upper shelves of the Canadian and international marketplace. We grow our plants in living soil and are stoked to be offering this amazing small batch craft cannabis to discerning connoisseurs and aficionados alike.

LOVE FOR THE CRAFT
Sweetgrass obtained its ‘Micro-cultivation, Micro-processing and Sale for Medical Purposes’ license from Health Canada in May 2020 and we’ve been on the grind ever since. From the legacy era til present day, we’ve always practiced organic growing techniques and have developed a method of cultivation that produces an amazing finished product that stands in a class all its own.
We took things a step further as a licensed producer by earning an official organic certification from the Fraser Valley Organic Producers Association (FVOPA). This certifying organization ensures that we maintain our facilities, inputs and methods according to their precise standards for what qualifies as organic. Beyond being just a buzz word, going ‘organic’ has been our aim since Day 1. While it’s far from being the easiest method of cultivation, we believe in the process and are committed to it.

Keeping the ‘we’ in weed
The culture of our small mountain town and the surrounding area is unique. There’s a certain je ne sais quoi in the air. People feel it and are drawn here from all over the world for reasons that are often hard to articulate. There’s no other place quite like the Kootenays and we’re proud to call this place home.
We’ve tapped our local community to assemble a solid team of dedicated and seasoned professionals to help us run our business. In turn, we give back to them through living wage employment, investment initiatives and town improvement projects. A sense of community is imbued into everything we do at Sweetgrass and we aim to continue this amazing project we’ve created with everyone for many years to come.
Our crew consists of approximately 20 highly experienced folk who’ve all had their individual journeys working with cannabis before landing their positions with Sweetgrass.

Sweetgrass HQ is located in the forest just down the road from where we live. Our first indoor growing and processing facility was built in 2019 and our second facility was completed in early 2021. Complete with full spectrum LED lighting and energy efficient HVAC systems, our 8 grow rooms provide over 4000 square feet of canopy space while the remainder of the facilities include office space, nursery and specialized rooms for drying, curing, processing and packaging.
